_SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
_
TheOperations Planning Supervisor reports to the Kalispell District Manager and is responsible for the planning, operation and administration of the natural gas systems within the Kalispell service area. The Operations PlanningSupervisorwill work closely with the other District leaders of Safety, Construction, and Gas Operations to assure that the planning and execution of work is performed safely, on schedule and effectively. TheOperations Planning Supervisor is responsible for the efficient scheduling and supervision of gas utility crews engaged in the operations of the gas system in the Kalispell District. TheOperations PlanningSupervisor will provide engineering design support to Construction on both growth and capital projects.
_DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS_

Ensures that safety goals and objectives are met
Provides instruction in and ensures compliance of proper work methods, construction standards, and safety procedures
Plan and organize short (daily)and long-term work schedule to ensure division production goals are met
Develop and participate in performance appraisals, safety accountability checks and process claims reports
This position will have _direct_ responsibility for:
System operation optimization coordinated with the asset management and gas operations functions
The coordination and integration of effective leadership and human performance initiatives in the District workforce with the District Manager
Supervisory responsibilities for the Kalispell Hourly Workers Union personnel
Claims resolution lead
Manage DOT, DIMP and OQ annual requirements
This position will have the responsibility to _support_ the following:
Annual capital and expense budget preparation
Annual work plan development and execution
Annual required workforce training
Annual projects development and design to support Operations and Construction
Supervise the gas operations in the absence of the District Manager
All employees are responsible to ensure that work is performed in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Policies and Procedures established by NorthWestern Energy
Responsible to ensure that plans and work are executed in compliance with the NWE Safety and Standards Manuals
Able to lead in a day-to-day operations that is dynamic and is a change agent
A significant amount of time is spent in an office environment with occasional lifting of lightweight products or material up to 35 pounds
Portion of the time is spent working outdoors in a variety of weather extremes, with exposure to normal field hazards.
Travel is required up to 20% of the work time or as the work requires under varying conditions
This position will also be required to be on-call for after hours emergencies as part of the District Operations Supervisor-on-Call rotation and will be available for other after hour assignments as situations dictate

_GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
_
Must be able to demonstrate a good safety record
Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
An engineering degree, journeyman qualification or equivalent technical degree is required
A Professional Engineer License is desirable
Planning and problem solving skills are required
A practical knowledge of all phases of utility gas operations and construction is recommended
Applicant should have a general knowledge of the engineering, construction and operation of natural gas transmission and distribution systems including regulatory policies ( DOT, etc.) or related experience
Applicant should possess a working knowledge of Company safety and environmental policies and procedures or have related experience
Applicant must have the ability to supervise and direct the activities of several functions and direct reports, coordinate diverse activities, delegate efficiently and promote and maintain a positive and progressive work environment
The ability to work effectively with customers and the general public are required
Applicant must be proficient in computer skills for a variety of applications relevant to the planning and work management requirements of the position
Must have a valid Montana Driver's License
Updated First Aid and CPR cards preferred
