Summary:
Part-time summer employment working with children ages 3 to 12.
Responsible for directing, supervising, and implementing activities for a group of youth in a manner that promotes safe behaviors and improves the quality of the children's interaction with one another.
DATES:
Weekdays June 1 to September 1 (no work on July 4th, August 21-28) Coordinate, lead, and/or participate in all group activities and planning of special events.
Serve as a role model to young children by demonstrating high standards of personal conduct by providing encouragement and support.
Report all unusual incidents and accidents to the proper personnel.
Responsible for youth' safety on field trips, or during any activity.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Possess any of the following skills and ability to teach:
nature education, sports, music, drama, outdoor games, or arts & crafts.
Previous experience working with large groups of children is preferred.
Must be CPR and First Aid Certified or ability to obtain (we will pay for certification!).
Counselors must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
Requires good customer service skills and ability to lead and teach a variety of recreational activities.

Responsibilities:
- As a summer program teacher, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to children and adolescents in various settings - Your role will involve assisting with educational activities, promoting positive behavior, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the youth under your care - Create a safe and nurturing environment for children and adolescents - Assist with educational activities and provide academic support - Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior - Supervise and engage youth in recreational activities - Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement programming - Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and incidents - Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding the progress of their child
Qualifications:
- 18 years or older - Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners - Experience working with children or adolescents in a professional setting -Knowledge of special education principles and techniques - Strong classroom management skills - Ability to handle challenging behaviors and diffuse conflicts - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Background in sports coaching or other recreational activities is beneficial Nice-to-have Skills:
- Elementary care experience - Familiarity with school-aged children - Background in childcare Job Types:
