Seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner certified in Psychiatry for Behavioral Health.
The incumbent provides outpatient med management/behavioral health care to eligible Veterans with acute, chronic, and/or special needs. Incumbent works in the ambulatory care setting of the Behavioral Health Unit, VA Montana Healthcare System and supports the mission and vision of the Healthcare System. S/he must communicate and collaborate effectively with a variety of clinicians in order to ensure quality treatment and care to the veteran. S/he submits comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment planswith detailed evaluations of patient's psychiatric condition and behavior including current condition, past history, mental status exam, diagnosis and future plans for patients seen in a routine and crisis care. The incumbent's duties include tele-health care and discharge planning. S/he identifies underlying medical conditions complicating psychiatric care with referrals to appropriate clinics. S/he has an attitude of striving for continuous growth and improvement; is open to feedback from regular ongoing chart reviews and from other team members and has demonstrated interest and excellence of working in a team setting. Current BLS is required for this position. If selected for Kalispell location, travel to Fort Harrison will be needed for training.

Physical standards - All applicants must meet the physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to employment may be required.
Registration - Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The RN must maintain a current, full active and unrestricted registration to continue employment with the VA.
Educational requirements can be met as follows: Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency, and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed: a) The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC); or b) The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active, and unrestricted registration, will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Nurse Practitioners. A nurse practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be in the specialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS: Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.
The criteria are as follows:
Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization;
Professional Development: performance, education/career development;
Collaboration; collaboration, collegiality;
Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research.
