Store Cashier/Deli Helper

Responsible for providing outstanding customer service. Duties include: processing sales of merchandise; giving correct change; operating computerized cash register; completion of shift paperwork; stocking and cleaning shelves; cleaning bathrooms, deli area, and windows; emptying trash, sweeping, and mopping; answering the telephone ; cleaning outside lot and gas islands; some preparation of deli foods; selling lotto and lottery tickets, and shoveling snow as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1. Waiting on customers, operating computerized cash register, giving correct change, scan credit cards and checks. Bag merchandise.
2. Stock shelves and cooler.
3. Clean and maintain fountain area.
4. Remembering regular customer''s names and faces. Suggest selling and assisting customers to locate merchandise.
5. Accurate and effective completion of shift paper work.
6. Clean rest rooms, deli equipment, dusting shelves and merchandise, windows, doors, empty trash cans, sweeping and mopping.
7. Use of fire extinguisher and other safety equipment.
8. Detection of shoplifters.
9. Vendor check in procedures.
10. Use of protocol system and drive off controls.
11. Listening and handling customer complaints.
12. Use of price book, safety manual, and store rest room logs.
13. Advises store manager of any situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance.
14. Answer and screen telephone calls properly.
15. Policing the store.
16. Sweep lot, shovel snow, clean gas pumps, fills water/cleaning solution buckets on islands.
17. Must be able to work with customers and co-workers
18. Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and nights.
EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related retail experience a plus.
